The Microjustice Initiative is founded on a belief in the following values:

  • Access to justice regarding the most urgent legal needs is a basic entitlement for all.
  • Legal empowerment is an essential element of a broader strategy aimed at human and economic development, which should be at the basis of international development cooperation.
  • Delivery of justice by letting supply and demand meet in a sustainable way at the local level.
  • Justice as bringing neutrality in relationships through cooperative processes.
  • Transparency of norms and procedures as a powerful change agent.
  • Research and development through a combination of field work by experts and NGO’s, insights from academics in the area of dispute resolution system design, and business ventures.
  • Open source development.
  • Advise, help and initiate local projects.
