[edit] Purpose of this wiki

This wiki is a tool for developing Microjustice. It is a place where ideas about innovative ways to create access to justice can be shared and developed. Contributors may want to create an account and provide some personal information through their user's page. Contributions in the following areas are very welcome:

[edit] Help to position Microjustice

Here we discuss the Mission of the Microjustice Initiative and the Values on which it will be based, as well as the Strategy and the Organization of the Microjustice Initiative.

[edit] Help to develop Microjustice products

This is the area where the process of Product Development is formed and discussed. Product Requirements are established. First versions of Microjustice Products can be viewed and evaluated. The product development process will follow the Base of the Pyramid protocol, see also Microjustice-BOP Lab Master Thesis Project.

[edit] Help to develop Microjustice programs

See the pilot project Microjustice Bolivia, where Microjustice Facilitators help clients according to the principles of Microjustice and where Microjustice Products are being developed. The Template Microjustice Program is a handbook that will be available in due time in order to support those that wish to develop a Microjustice Program. Other Microjustice Programs are in the process of being developed, for instance a cross border program in the republics of Former Yugoslavia.

[edit] Help to develop the Microjustice interactive web platform

Under the working name of MicrojusticeNormsandProcesses.com, the specifications for an interactive webplatform will be developed. This website will make norms (Objective criteria) and processes for common legal problems transparent for users and comparable across countries.

[edit] Help to bring people, know how and effort together

[edit] Microjustice projects

The page with an overview of all Projects is a good place to start if you want to know what work is being done and where help is needed to make Microjustice happen. For instance, you may wish to contribute to writing texts for communication purposes, formulate new projects, develop ideas about fundraising, contribute to product development in one of the pilot projects, be monitor for this wiki, and a thousand other things that have to be done. This area also contains information about the persons and organizations that contribute to Microjustice.

[edit] Workpackages: Work Looking for People

This page can be seen as the market place for work that has to be done. We have defined Work Packages that may be interesting for volunteers, or for organizations that have budgets available for supporting this type of activities.

[edit] Ask questions

There is a page with frequently asked questions and preliminary answers to them. These questions are continuously being added to and the answers further refined. The idea of Microjustice and the information on this wiki easily lead to numerous questions. It is very helpful to get a good overview of what these questions exactly are. You can help us by leaving your questions on the Frequently Asked Questions section, so that we can try to provide answers to them.

[edit] Microjustice Research: Dispute System Design

Improving access to justice is a matter of innovation. Know how from many different disciplines has to be brought together. In order to improve access to justice, you need to know more about conflicts, about negotiation and other ways to solve them, about rules and norms that help to solve conflicts, and about the conduct of people who supply dispute resolution services (mediators, lawyers, judges). The Dispute Resolution System Design pages help to give access to this knowledge. A Microjustice Research Program is in the process of being developed.

[edit] Microjustice Who is who

On the Who is who page you will find information on the names and functions of the people working on Microjustice now.

[edit] Official website

The official website of the Microjustice Initiative is www.microjustice.org. That is the primary venue for communicating with the outside world. If you feel texts, ideas, project information, or other info should be made available on this website, please contact: communications@microjustice.org

On the News and Events page, milestones that are reached, coming events, and other noteworthy issues that could be suitable for our newsletter can be shared.

[edit] Discussion

Here we can discuss and exchange questions and experiences when using this wiki:

  • How should we license the content on this wiki?
  • What are the rules of the game for this website, answering questions such as:
    • How should we cope with language? The MJ wiki is also intended to facilitate communication between the people working in the MJ Bolivia pilot and the ones supporting them in other parts of the world, like Holland.
    • How do we format/structure information, for instance on pages that are dedicated for projects?
    • How should access to this wiki be regulated?
    • How should we label different pages? Use capitals for all words except articles (lidwoorden)in the title?

Here, a critical assessment of using wikis in legal education can be found, based upon experiences with a wiki-environment in legal education.

[edit] How to use this wiki?

[edit] Quick start

Contributing to this wiki is very easy.

  1. Before you edit, please log in.
  2. In order to log in, please create an account. That is easy. It only requires your e-mail address.
  3. If you want to edit text, just hit one of the edit buttons (top of the screen, or at the right). You can add or change text on the places you want to in the screen that opens (with text in courier). Try it.
  4. Use the Show preview button to see what you have achieved, before you hit Save page.
  5. Saving really changes the wiki on the website as it is visible to others.
  6. You will see that some strange symbols (like: [[**==='=) are used in the text. This is mark-up language that creates links, headings, bullets, italic text etc. The buttons above your editing screen add this language for you for the most common types of mark-up, such as bold, italics, internal link, or external link.
  7. With the editing guidelines you can easily learn how to do more complicated things such as adding bullets and numbers.

[edit] Read first, then start

If you are not so brave, consult the User's Guide for information on using the wiki software first. Then try.
